Experience with Undergraduate Course-Grade Distributions at HKUST
In making judgments about the standard of students’ work, the University’s experience in the distribution of undergraduate course grades should be taken into account. This experience indicates that course grades will normally fall within the following percentage bands:
|A||10 – 20|
|B||25 – 40|
|C||35 – 45|
|D||5 – 10|
|F||0 – 5|
Where course grades fall outside these limits, faculty assigning grades should assure themselves that the grades are academically justified and should be ready to explain their grading decisions.
